Need a place to stay?

Our church needs someone just to be on the property. It’s in a beautiful rural valley beneath the Dripping Springs Mountains, south of Globe and north of Winkelman, Arizona. (That’s about 100 miles east of Phoenix and 70 miles north of Tucson.)

We offer a choice — you could park for a $150/month donation, or you could workcamp part-time and park for free. (Electricity is available in addition if you pay for your monthly use.)

Here are photos.

This is a peaceful, rural church setting.

People love the beautiful Dripping Springs mountains panorama, with many places to hike in the nearby Pinal National Forest, and the peaceful spiritual presence on the 1.1-acre church property.

Regular services are not being offered due to coronavirus, but a small Sunday service may be held just for us. We ask that you please be on the property Sundays (usually from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) whenever the minister is present, since it’s a rural setting. We’ll make it a community — whether we visit, do a project, or go for a walk.

This is our second year to offer our beautiful location to stay. Those who came before said they loved it.

Although this is a “boondocking” experience, we have two new RV electrical hookups. If you want electricity, please reimburse us promptly each month. A $100 security or utilities deposit is asked, which will be refunded to you when you leave the property clean and your utilities have been paid.

We can provide clean drinking water from our well for your use. Our aquifer has some of the best quality water in Arizona, a water tester tells us.

Unfortunately, we don’t have plumbing or septic hookups, so you’ll need to be self-contained. Neighbors ruined our septic system when holding workshops with large crowds on weekdays when we weren’t there. That’s why we’d like someone just to be on the property, and also why we call it “boondocking” now. (Facilities for RV dumping are at the casino in the town, Globe, where you can shop, etc., about 27 miles north. There is another casino south which may be closer.)

For a good cell phone signal, you can walk or drive just 1/3 mile down the road to make a call. And we noticed a new, strong internet signal at the church this year. UPS regularly delivers packages. Mail delivery is available, if you’d like to put up a mailbox. We don’t subscribe to trash pickup, and use a burn barrel, but you could.

No smoking, drinking or drugs on the church property. Fires must be in a designated area and special precautions taken during months when fire risk is high.

We hope you’ll be respectful of our simple honest values at a place where all faiths are welcome.

It’s up to you whether you want to make a $150 donation to park, or whether you’d choose to work in exchange for free parking and water. We can negotiate so that it’s fair to both of us. (You will need to pay for electricity you use.)

(1) Maybe you’d like to be a work camper? You can work in exchange for parking on our large lot with its panoramic view of the mountains.

Work includes a little light housekeeping and groundskeeping, security, occasional maintenance (about 10–15 hours/week). You can maintain the yard and keep the church clean for Sunday services (although grass doesn’t usually grow fast on the desert and we don’t hold services every Sunday).

The church’s six wood-framed glass French doors need to be stained and oiled sometime this winter or spring. There are odds and ends, mostly small jobs. It’s just nice to have something being done.

(2) If you don’t want to work, but prefer just to park, a donation of $150/month is asked, plus reimbursement for any electricity you use.

This is more economical in comparison to nearby spots (less than half of what is charged. In winter months (November thru May) our neighbor across the street charges $290 per month per person; couples are $350+. Plus 15 hours of work per person each week is required.

At our church, you can either contribute $150/month to park with a more spacious view of mountains and more privacy, or pay nothing and park for free in exchange for about 10–15 hours part-time work per week. (It’s either/or, but not both.)

We do have similar requests about no smoking, addictions and cooperative, friendly behavior that is supportive of the church.

Also, next door to us, the 55-acre ranch charged $200/month rent to park a trailer, plus asked some ranch or handyman help.

So, our more spacious view offers the best value of places to stay nearby.

Three references will be appreciated.

Honesty, integrity and caring are the most important gifts you can bring.

We think you’ll really enjoy your stay at our beautiful, rural church property by the Dripping Springs Mountains, south of Pinal Mountain and 27 miles south of Globe, in central Arizona.
